Bunzl companies sign Green Recovery Statement

At Coolpack, sustainability is paramount. We have therefore, together with over 240 other Dutch organizations, expressed our support for making sustainability the cornerstone of the Covid-19 recovery measures. This is because, in our opinion, acting quickly not only strengthens the economy, but also limits the negative effects on the environment, society, people’s well-being and business processes. This is why we recently signed the Green Recovery Statement. Read exactly what this means here.

The Green Recovery Statement was presented to Sigrid Kaag, Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, on Thursday, June 19. With the statement, the Dutch
business community is jointly advocating sustainability as a cornerstone for corona recovery plans. Bunzl Netherlands, of which Coolpack is part, also supports this statement.

What is the Green Recovery Statement?

The Green Recovery Statement is a statement in which Dutch entrepreneurs indicate their intention to become more sustainable businesses and advocate for a green and social recovery from the Corona crisis. The following words are from the first part of the Green Recovery Statement.

“The COVID-19 crisis is affecting our society during the transition to an economy more focused on sustainability and inclusiveness. It is important to keep this challenge, the risks of climate change and the risks of biodiversity loss in sharp focus. If we act now, we can not only strengthen our economy, but also prevent negative impacts on our environment, society, people’s well-being and business processes.”

Key points from the Green Recovery Statement

  1. Make the EU Green Deal the cornerstone of EU recovery plans;
  2. Ensure that the investments resulting from the COVID-19 recovery plan will further move the economy toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the global sustainability goals established by the United Nations and the goals set forth in the Paris Agreement;
  3. Continue to provide long-term certainty about the Dutch Climate Agreement and measurable commitments.
