Dutch cut flowers are famous all around the world and are therefore shipped worldwide. Consumers want flowers that are fresh and that they can enjoy for a long time. When dry transport of flowers is preferred (for example in the case of airplane transport), the flowers should be transported chilled and not too moisty. Our customers in the flower industry usually opt for the Original gel packs of 200 grams, because they offer the right cooling capacity for cut flowers. These are often used in combination with absorption mats to immediately collect condensation that is released during transport. You can also opt for No sweat gel packs. These are provided with a non-woven absorbent outer layer, which keeps your flowers dry during transport.

It is not only the cultivation, storage and trading of cut flowers that is a specialism. Transporting them is one too. Cut flowers require a unique approach. Product advice for transporting plants and flowers

Cool the flowers.
After cutting the stem, the flower's natural metabolism stops. To keep them beautiful for as long as possible, you need to cool them as quickly as possible. You can use gel packs for this.
Ensure good humidity.
When the flowers are exposed to too much moisture, mold such as botrytis can develop. The flowers can also catch diseases. On the other hand, conditions that are too dry can also be disastrous. With absorption mats you collect moisture during transport.
Keep the flowers on temperature.
In order to cool the cut flowers during long transports, we recommend the use of insulating packaging boxes such as EPS boxes or the EcoCoolBox in combination with gel packs.
