What are cooling plates?
Cooling trays are sturdy HDPE bottles filled with food-safe cooling gel. They are widely used by hospitality companies (especially in gastronorm sizes), retailers and online supermarkets to keep products cool at temperatures between 0°C and 8°C. For example, the 6-liter cooler is ideal for use in EPP coolers.
Sizes of cooling trays at Coolpack
At Coolpack, we offer cooling trays in several standard sizes, such as 1/1 gastronorm, ½ gastronorm, and 6 liters (ideal for EPP coolers). We also have variants with handles that fit perfectly on the walls of EPP coolers. Our cooling trays are available as standard for cooling at 0°C, but we also offer versions for freezing performance at -16°C, -18°C, and -21°C.
All our cooling plates are manufactured in our production facility in Assendelft and can be filled with a material that has a eutectic melting point of up to -65°C or up to +89°C, depending on your needs.
Personalizing your cooling plate
You can have the cooling plates personalized in a variety of ways. From adding a label (small quantities) to carving out your logo in the mold (from 10,000 pieces and up). They can also be packaged by desired number and delivered in a display. Contact us for options and a free quote.
Sustainable alternatives
When you have return flows, reusable cooling trays are a much more sustainable choice than single-use gel packs. The hard plastic material from which the cooling elements are made is standard HDPE (High Density Polyethylene): strong, long reusable and 100% recyclable. But we offer even more sustainable alternatives:
- rHDPE: This material is recycled and consists of at least 90% regranulate. It is also fully recyclable again after use.
- Bio-based: This is a bioplastic with renewable resources (sugar cane) as raw material instead of virgin raw materials (oil). Fully recyclable again after use and possible to produce in line with food safety regulations.

Recycling Instructions
You can reuse our dimensionally stable heatsinks very often. Has your cooling plate reached the end of its useful life? Defrost it, put the filling in the residual waste and recycle the outer bottle in plastic waste. This is made of HDPE and is therefore completely recyclable. The same goes for the sustainable alternatives of rHDPE and renewable HDPE.
